If you have a new installation of SQL Server, be sure the SQL Server service is running and listening on the correct ports. Configure the instance to allow connectionsīy default, SQL Server instances are not configured to allow connections from other computers. First, though, be sure your SQL Server instance can accept connections from remote computers. You can also reset the password of the SQL Server Agent service account in SQL Server Configuration Manager. Reset the SQL Server Agent service account in SQL Server Configuration Manager back to the original account. Stop and then start the SQL Server Agent service. Set the SQL Server Agent service account in SQL Server Configuration Manager to the LocalSystem account. To resolve the problem, follow these steps:

The SQL Server Agent Service account is missing the required privileges to do impersonation. Note This error message is not typically caused by the proxy account itself, but rather by the SQL Server Agent service account trying to impersonate the proxy account. You will receive the second error message mentioned in the Symptoms section when the SQL Server Agent service account does not have the required operating system permissions to spawn the necessary child process under the context of the proxy account. These steps will add the service account to the appropriate group membership which provides the necessary permissions. SQL Server Configuration Manager will take additional steps beyond changing the service account or password. This problem occurs because the Windows Service Control Manager cannot grant the required permissions to run agent jobs to the new domain account. A required privilege is not held by the client.
